** MUSICIANS INVITED **

The Church Road Band (aka, the FAC Worship Team) is always looking to add more musicians to our group. We are looking for guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboard/pianists, singers, and horn/string players. The amount of playing time will depend on current needs, level of commitment, and abilities. Our goal and mission is to offer our best skills and talents to God and to be used by Him to inspire sincere worship from the church.

Here are the details:

Time Commitment:

The band practices weekly and performs on Sundays mornings for the Ferndale Alliance Worship Service.

Musicians need to have growing and maturing musical skills with the following basic expectations:

Keyboard/Pianists: Ability to read chord symbols and play appropriate chords and backgrounds for worship songs. Should know the difference between a C7 (+5) and an Fm6 chord and be able to play them

Drummers: Should have an excellent sense of time (steady beat) and variety of drumming skills consistent with the contemporary Christian music scene. Able to play loud and soft and keep tempos steady.

Guitarists: Lead and Rhythm, but mostly Rhythm. Able to play all required chords and Rhythm styles. Ability to listen and blend with the band.

Bassists: Able to read chord symbols and lay down a solid beat

Singers: Soloist skill not required, but must be able to sing on pitch and blend with other vocalists.

Horn Players (and strings): Able to improvise and add simple and tasty harmony parts with the worship music.

Attitude and Values. The following will help explain our core values:

Values Our Worship Team Embraces

It is not about how good we sound
but how good we are in our hearts and lives

It is not about how much we are "in tune" with our instruments
but how "in tune" we are with the life and Spirit of God

It is not about playing well together
but living in harmony with each other relationally

It is not about impressing one another or our church family on Sunday
but impressing and pleasing God with our daily lives.

It is not about cleverness, virtuosity, or creativity on our instruments or voices
but the stretching of new heights, continuously, of our Christian experience

It is not about pleasing every musical judge and critic at our church
but pleasing the Judge of the universe and bringing joy to his heart

It is not about being better than the Church down the street
but being better than we were last week

It is not about love for music
but love for God and each other

It is not just about listening to each other's instruments
but listening to each other's hearts and passions

It is not about finding and keeping the right tempo
but finding and keeping our pace and tempo with Jesus

It is not about keeping our instruments in good repair
but keeping our lives in the best of care.

It is not about ME being fulfilled musically - the feeding of my personal preferences
but making sure our church folk hear the message of Jesus in the music weekly

It is not about having the best technology (Powerpoint, keyboards, etc.)
but being content with what God has granted us and doing the best we can with what we have

It's not about playing "okay" or better or worse than someone else
It is about doing my very best--as "unto the Lord" (Col 3:23)

In short, attitude is really important! We place a higher premium on your Christian character over your musicianship!

Steps to getting involved: Communicate to Pastor Jon (church worship leader) about your interest and your skills/background/musical goals. Email Pastor Jon.
